Tiago Forjaz, SingularityU Portugal's expert on Leadership, Talent, Transformation & the Future of Work, explains how he got into the talent business and why it's crucial to develop your potential and skills in an exponential world.

"Everyone has talent, there's no doubt about it " - it's Tiago Forjaz who guarantees it. "I think the importance of talent is the only thing that's not going to change in the future. The importance of talent will only increase, because everything else will change and that's what makes it different. The combination of your talents is really what makes you unique".

In an ever-changing world, discovering what your skills and potential are can be a real differentiator and career booster. Your talent can not only boost your career path, but also inspire others. Developing your potential can also bring different results because, firstly, you need to understand that the term 'career' is not a watertight concept.

"I think people confuse talent with skills. Let me give you an example: I am a communicator. If I say my talent is to communicate, I can think of a few different skills. I can become a priest, a lawyer, a television presenter or an actor, but the skills I will develop are really different in each of the areas. It's one thing to present television, it's another thing to preach in a church. Skills are tiny applications of your talent, in a particular context. People use words lightly. That's why they can't understand them. There are so many things you can do, provided you can develop the right skills. But you must always remember that talent is your foundation."
