Rita Diniz e Miguel Pina e Cunha: Management, Leadership and Innovation in the Social Economy Sector

This book was written as part of the Social Equity Initiative partnership and the program Social Leadership for Managers which aims to prepare executives to contribute as Board Members in social organizations.

Composed of 15 chapters, the book incorporates collaborative texts by 29 authors, including academics, Nova SBE partners and personalities from the social economy sector, with the aim of reflecting on how management can contribute to the transformation of the social economy sector, addressing some of today's most relevant issues.

 

Daniel Traça: Ambition

The former Dean of Nova SBE, Daniel Traça, starts with the question "why can't Portugal take advantage of the talent it has proven it can create?" to share some of his own experience of leading the school and make an unprecedented, in-depth and sustained analysis of the causes and consequences of the country's inability to retain the talent it produces.

 

Milton de Sousa: The Leader Through Meaning - The power of meaning to serve and transform

Milton de Sousa, Associate Professor and co-founder of the Nova SBE Leadership for Impact Knowledge Centre, offers in this book a model for empowering leaders to promote meaning in their organizations, including practical tools and guidelines for becoming a leader for meaning on a daily basis. The author also draws on an extensive review of scientific studies on leadership and motivation, and various reflections on the practice and science of management, as well as psychology and philosophy.

 

Miguel Pina e Cunha, Medhanie Gaim and Stewart R. Clegg: Organizational Paradoxes - Theory and Practice

The Professor of Leadership and Organizational Studies at the Amélia de Mello Foundation and Deputy Director for Innovation and Impact at Nova SBE, joined two other academics - Medhanie Gaim, from Umeå University in Sweden, and Stewart R. Clegg, from the University of Sydney - to think about the daily paradoxes that paint the dynamics of management and organizations.

Miguel Pina e Cunha, Ace Volkmann Simpson,Stewart Clegg, Arménio Rego and Marco Berti: Organizational Compassion - A Relational Approach

This book, which brings together five internationally renowned researchers, explores the idea that organizational compassion can have a multitude of benefits, both for individuals and for teams and organizations. In addition to a deep theoretical dive into these reflections, the manual teaches how to apply compassion in a practical way to all the daily tasks in organizations.
