Nova SBE, in partnership with the European Space Agency (ESA) and the universities St. Gallen (Switzerland) and Rotterdam School of Management (Netherlands), launches the first programme in Europe focused on the economy and management of the space sector: Space for Business.

This partnership of excellence, between three internationally renowned business schools, aims to deepen knowledge about the Space industry, identify opportunities and challenges for the growth of companies in the area, and build a network of contacts of professionals in the sector.

In this way, Space for Business was not only designed for those working in the space sector, but also for all those interested in the space market. This training also meets the needs of many businessmen and entrepreneurs, since Space is now a new economic frontier, with various business models emerging around infrastructures, products and services developed for space markets. Finance and the Morgan Stanley firm, in fact, predict that the sector will reach a profit of up to $1 trillion by 2040. Space technology can also help solve some of the big challenges of the future, such as climate change and internet access.

The training will last six months, with several stays and classroom sessions at the three schools and ESA infrastructures. One of the aims of the programme is to apply the knowledge acquired to an individual project to be presented to the European Space Technology and Research Centre in the Netherlands.

The initiative is supported by Ricardo Conde, president of the national agency Portugal Space, who said in a statement released by ESA:"Education is a fundamental tool to ensure that Europe has the human resources necessary to create a sustainable and secure future growth of the space sector. Initiatives such as the European Space Business Programme are fundamental for academia, industry and business to speak the same language and contribute to the innovation ecosystem, which will provide a fundamental contribution to European sovereignty."

Space for Business is scheduled to start on 22 November 2021 and applications are open until the end of October.
