he topic of gender equality in the decision-making bodies of companies, namely those listed on the stock exchange, is on the agenda. Its relevance and timeliness is supported by several studies that show that companies with management teams with greater gender balance obtain better business results, growth and higher profitability.
Although in the last decade the presence of women in the decision-making bodies of the largest listed companies has increased eightfold, rising from 2.6% in 2008 to 21.6% in 2018, Portugal is still below the European average of 27%.
It was with this motto that CIP decided to leave its comfort zone and invest in an innovative initiative that aims to boost women's access to positions of greater responsibility, namely in the management and administration of companies.
In close partnership with its Spanish counterpart, and with the financial support of the EEA Grants for a significant part of the activities, the first edition of the Promova Project is launched with the objective of supporting the development and training of women, with a view to increasing their presence in the top management of companies.
The presentation of the project was attended by the President of CIP, António Saraiva, the Norwegian Ambassador, Anders Edal, the Secretary of State for Citizenship and Equality, Rosa Monteiro, the Coordinator of the National Focal Point of EEA Grants, Susana Ramos, the President of the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality, Teresa Fragoso, the Director of the Promociona Project promoted by CEOE, Susana Cabana, and the Dean of Nova SBE, Daniel Traça.
The Promova Project, which is an executive training programme designed in partnership with Nova SBE, differs from others in four essential aspects: coaching, cross-mentoring, networking potential and executive excellence programme.
In the presentation session the Dean of Nova SBE stated that "We are moving towards a world where the important thing will be to think, manage and innovate, which means that organisations have to be fundamentally different. The important thing will be talent and the ability to leverage diversity."
Nova SBE Executive Education proposes an executive programme of excellence composed of three modules that aim to empower participants with the knowledge and skills that will help them succeed in management and administration roles.
CIP believes that it will definitely contribute to a better social balance by promoting gender diversity in top management positions.
The Promova Project is more than an executive training programme, it is the right opportunity for women who aspire to grow and be promoted!
